Four cuts, four different jobs. The Black 1980s Jorts 'Black/Wash' and the Skittles Jorts Mid Blue are long denim jorts at $139.99 each, the Valley USA Leopard Shorts White sit shorter and lighter at the same price, and the "Valley" Denim Shorts Grey are the heaviest and most finished of the group at $180.99.
The two jorts read as cut-down vale jeans. Same denim weight, same hardware, hem left raw so it frays with washing. Our team handled all four side by side and the Skittles pair in mid wash is the softest out of the bag; the Black/Wash pair is stiffer and holds its shape longer, a quality that matters more in jorts than it does in vale shorts cut from lighter denim.
The Leopard pair is the outlier among the vale shorts here, built on a white ground with leopard print rather than a denim wash, so it behaves more like a graphic piece than a denim one.
Length and finish are the real dividing lines across these valley shorts. Jorts cover the knee, the Leopard pair stops well above it, and the grey "Valley" Denim Shorts land between the two with a cleaner hem and a price that reflects the extra work in them.
Distressing is the other difference. The 1980s pair carries visible wear through the thigh, the Skittles pair keeps its mid wash more even, and the grey pair stays flat and quiet, which is part of why it reads less like jorts and more like tailored vale shorts.
Our rule is simple: the louder the shorts, the quieter the top. The Valley USA Leopard Shorts White want a plain Rushmore T Shirt or a Valley Dreams Racer T-Shirt in cotton jersey, nothing competing. The Black 1980s Jorts take weight well, so an Army of Dreams Zip Hoodie or the Liberty Zip Up Hoodie with its zip-up closure balances the volume.
Skittles Jorts sit happily under a Godfather Bling Tee, the bling print picking up the mid blue. The grey pair carries the Valley Collective Est. 2021 pullover hoodie or a Raven Zip-Up Hoodie, and it is the one pair in our vale shorts run that works with a sharper shoe.
Daylight opens these colours up; warm indoor light closes them down. Under sun the Skittles mid wash lifts blue and the fading across the leg reads clearly, the same behaviour we see on our valley jeans and on the vale shorts that share the same denim.
Indoors the Black/Wash pair reads near-black and the wash almost disappears. White leopard goes slightly cream under bulbs, while the grey stays grey in both, which is why our team treats it as the steadiest grey in our vale clothing line. Screen print on a graphic tee shifts less than denim does.
Vale Forever, or Vale, is an independent American streetwear brand built on West Coast culture and the Valley Dreams creative universe. Our collections pull from San Fernando Valley nostalgia, local sports, faith, family and the energy of growing up in Southern California during the 1990s and 2000s.
We design heavyweight hoodies, zip-ups, thermals, graphic tees, long sleeves, jerseys, sweatpants, shorts and denim jorts. Every piece features large, narrative-driven graphics rooted in varsity and athletic aesthetics that tell stories from our Valley Dreams world.
Our team builds each graphic to make a statement. The size and detail work together to pull from the bold visual language of street murals, sports culture and 90s design we grew up around. These aren't subtle—they're meant to be seen and felt.
